Welcome to the Play Team Association

AIMS: The Play Team is a charitable organisation based in West Sussex that seeks to support the emotional health and wellbeing of children who are experiencing difficulty in their lives.  Using Non-directive play and creative listening techniques allows the child to explore creative and imaginative materials during their play hour. The child is free to talk, remain silent, play alone or involve the Play Team practitioner.  In this practical way it maximises children’s emotional health and learning capacity and helps children to convey, through play and creativity, their emotional experience without the need for words.

ACHIEVEMENTS: The Play Team’s Play Practitioners work on a one to one basis with children, who have experienced any form of emotional trauma or loss, in schools and Children and Family Centres Children;  children can be referred by parents/guardians, schools or other professional organisations.   It also runs Non-directive Creative Arts Workshops ©for parents/carers and children – an example of this can be found at the Weald and Downland Museum during school holidays.  The Play Team also trains professionals and parents and carers in non-directive play and creative listening practices, which hugely supports the parent(adult)/child relationship.

We offer matched funding for one to one sessions, where possible, to ensure that no child is disadvantaged.

The Play Team Association would like to thank all those contributors who visited Waitrose Chichester during the month of November – you kindly donated £324 for us to continue our work with children.  Thank you and Thank Waitrose!
